Guys, here it is. I don’t know if you are as excited as I am, but 7 Wonders Board game is getting a new expansion. Repos Production announced 7 Wonders Edifice, the next expansion to the award-winning 7 Wonders board game. It launches February 24.
The pros and cons of cooperating with other players must be considered for each Edifice. Join your opponents in building these collective projects, or disregard them and devote your resources to achieving personal glory. Players who successfully complete an Edifice receive rewards; however, those who decide to operate alone get a penalty.
7 Wonders: Edifice Features:
- Two new Wonders and 15 Edifice cards to bring even more replay value to 7 Wonders.
- New form of player interaction without adding complexity or playtime.
- Work together to build Edifices and earn rewards if they’re completed. Players can ignore them and focus on their city, but they’ll have to face the consequences if others finish an Edifice.
- 7 Wonders Edifice is compatible with all versions and expansions of 7 Wonders. (The Wonders, in line with the 2020 edition, are bigger than the first edition’s Wonders, but this does not affect gameplay.)
Edifice plays a lot like Projects from the Babel expansion, but with an overhaul. It allows players to earn rewards by participating in the building of communal edifices.
Instead of participating on a card color, you participate when building a wonder stage, and it costs you gold and not other resources. You can participate only once, so that is a change to.
They also made it that rewards are better and straightforward. No need for a lot of different tokens.
Number of participating tokens has also been reduced but only for 5+ player games. Now if 5 or more players play, there are -2 from players number tokens available.
Two new wonder boards are added to the game. Ur and Carthage wonders. What we know for now is that Ur can only be used with this expansion and it gives you another participation token when you build the 2nd stage. Carthage can be used without the expansion and has double benefits on the 2nd stage that you can choose from.
Personally, I’m excited for expansion. It doesn’t offer much value from the physical aspect, and it’s fairly simple. But it adds a bit of complexity and strategy. If you’re a veteran and have played a lot of 7 Wonders with all expansions, this is certainly something to look forward to.
7 Wonders Edifice is available for pre-order from the Asmodee store and select retailers for an MSRP of $29.99.
